Reckless Delay
v0.21A virtual-analog stereo delay whose repeats darken and wobble as they go, the way tape and a bucket-brigade do.
From the user guide
Using it
At 100 % Feedback the repeats hold, each as loud as the last, and never run away. Turning Time while it plays bends the pitch of the tails, as a tape does.
Controls
| Close-up | Control | Range | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
![]() | Time | 5 ms to 1.5 s | 600 ms | The gap between repeats; dims while a Sync division is set. |
![]() | Sync | Free, 2/1 to 1/16 | Free | Locks the time to the host's tempo, with dotted and triplet values. |
![]() | Feedback | 0 to 100 % | 35 % | How long the trail; at 100 % the repeats hold. |
![]() | Tone | 800 Hz to 18 kHz | 3 kHz | Lowpass in the loop: low is dub-dark, high keeps the air. |
![]() | Rate | 0.1 to 10 Hz | 0.6 Hz | How fast the wow drifts; flutter rides at four times it. |
![]() | Rate Sync | Free, 2/1 to 1/16 | Free | Locks the wow to the tempo, one wow per division. |
![]() | Depth | 0 to 100 % | 15 % | How far wow and flutter wobble the pitch; 0 is steady. |
![]() | Mode | Stereo / Ping-Pong | Ping-Pong | Echoes stay on their side, or bounce across the image. |
![]() | Mix | 0 to 100 % | 20 % | Dry to wet; 100 on an effects send. |
![]() | Output | −12 to +12 dB | +3 dB | Trim on dry and wet together, applied last. |
Tips
- A clean digital delay: Tone all the way up, Depth 0.
- A tape echo: Tone 3 to 6 kHz, Depth 15 to 30 %, Feedback towards 80 %.
- Dub: Tone 1 to 2 kHz, Feedback high, and shove Time while the repeats ring.
- Ping-Pong wants a synced Time, an eighth or a dotted eighth.
The plugin adds no latency.
