What’s in 1.0.0
Twenty-one audio plugins from Reckless Technology, free for any use: twenty effects - modulation, reverb and convolution, amp, cabinet and NAM simulation, overdrive and distortion, dynamics, EQ, delay, a vocoder, a wah, an octaver and a doubler - and a Pedalboard that chains them. Each is a VST3 and a standalone app for Windows, macOS and Linux, and an Audio Unit on macOS. The macOS and Windows installers are signed, the Mac's notarized by Apple; Linux has a Debian package and a zip. They need macOS 13.3 (Ventura) or later, Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), or Linux x64 with glibc 2.38.
What's new in 1.0
- The first public release, free: download it from recklesstechnology.com.
- Signed installers for macOS and Windows, and a Debian package for Linux (`sudo apt install ./reckless-plugins-1.0.0-linux-amd64.deb`).
- The Mac plugins run on macOS 13.3 (Ventura) and later.
- Each plugin checks once a day for a newer version and says UPDATE in its header when one is out; the gear menu's Updates turns it off.
- The Vocoder's CARRIER has a third choice, Synth: play the carrier from MIDI, up to eight notes at once.
The installers are signed - on macOS by Apple’s notary service too - and each plugin checks once a day, while its window is open, whether a newer version is out; the gear menu’s Updates turns that off. Every release, with its notes and the user guide, is on the releases page. Using the plugins means you agree to the licence agreement. The page is built from the newest public release at every deploy (tools/release.py in pages.yml, woken by vst-plugins' promote.yml): its version, sizes, checksums and notes. The links answer 404 until the first release is promoted, so this page waits for that before it is merged.
